Eye Care

Eye complaints are among the most overlooked — and fastest-progressing — problems in pets. A simple-looking watery or red eye can turn into a corneal ulcer and permanent damage if left untreated.

We identify the source of the problem with thorough eye exams, tear tests and corneal staining, and treat a wide range of conditions from infections to allergies.

Don't wait with these signs

Squinting or keeping an eye closed, excessive watering or colored discharge, redness, cloudiness or a change in eye color, constant pawing at the eye, and light sensitivity each warrant an exam. Squinting in particular signals pain and should be seen the same day.

Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds — Pugs, Bulldogs, Persian cats — are especially prone to eye problems; regular checks matter even more for them.

Frequently asked questions

My cat's eye is watering — will it clear up on its own?

Mild irritation sometimes resolves itself, but if the discharge is colored, the eye is squinting, or it lasts more than 24 hours, an exam is strongly recommended. Early treatment prevents permanent damage.
